"Having had the 25.24 model for nearly 4 years I decided to upgrade too the 25.26 when I could afford them. These are more revealing speakers, especially where you would expect in the mid range, where it is easier to define the position of a singer or instrument in the width and depth of the soundstage, especially the depth. The tonal balance is brighter than the 24, which is more evident on digital sources like CD, but ultimately the bass also seems to have slightly greater and deeper presence. As with the 24, they thrive on decent amplification; in my case a JS Audio upgraded Nu-Vista 600. The 26 is truly spectacular on good and excellent recordings, but easily shows up the limitations of poorly recorded or mastered work or compressed digital sources. It can be considered as more of a reference product that tells it like it is, rather than papering over cracks and that is fine with me. It is less forgiving than the 24 because it is more revealing. What I consistently love about the 25 series is that way that the bass seems to separate itself from other frequencies and in so doing, it frees them up to sound airier and more distinct, without the congestion I hear in so many other speakers. The bass is solid, powerful, extremely fast and well-controlled. Rather than just a deep noise, it has texture and space of its own. An important consideration for me was the front ATL porting and lack of rearward energy radiating from the boxes, as I have my hifi stack close to one of the speakers. Even at high volumes the cabinets are incredibly "dead" , I get no feedback and no vibration can be felt on nearby surfaces. I am aware that my speakers are still running in and they should relax and become even more dynamic and balanced with a bit more time behind them. If they remain a little bright non my environment, I know they can be tuned by toeing in or out a little."

"Not used that much yet, but really sound good. I am experimenting with positions still as they excite a room resonance peaking at 44Hz., any speaker would I suspect if it had useful output down there. To my surprise the spikes really helped in this area when I screwed them down. The room is 25'x11'4", If you can suggest something like a notch filter I would be very grateful. When I tried the Tweny5.24s I was aware of a character in the male voices I did not like, I believe it to be caused by the bass units large concave cone going to 1.8kHz. completely disappeared with the 26s I am glad to say. Adventures in HiFi were really helpful to me, they loaned me almost the whole of the Twenty5 range before I made my choice."
