The Invitational Group cast off with PMC

Picture this: sunshine, warm sea breeze, 45 metre staffed luxury yacht and fine local cuisine in the French Riviera. This was the setting for The Invitational Group’s 8th annual elite writing camp organized by Peter Coquillard.

It is safe to say Peter, a 25 year veteran of the music publishing business, knows how to get the best out of his writers, artists and producers having worked directly with Pete Townshend, The Who and Nine Inch Nails amongst others. Antibes, South France, surrounded by snowed capped mountains, traditional markets and a Mediterranean climate was the choice for this year’s event.

This year’s exclusive songwriting camp, which has been running for 7 years around the world, saw artists Kesha, Mollie King (The Saturdays), producers and writers Mitch Allan (Jason Derulo, Kelly Clarkson), Tayla Parx (Ariana Grande, Mariah Carey), and Sacha Skarbek (Miley Cyrus, Adele) on top of a further host of songwriting and artist talent all-aboard The BLISS.

“We host our BLISS Invitational Songwriting Camp in partnership with the BLISS yacht, a 45 meter luxury motor yacht owned by Tom Misner, who is the founder of SAE (School of Audio Engineering Institute of Technology),” informs Nadja Sumter, The Invitational Group events coordinator, “With Mr. Misner's generosity and support we are able to build floating music studios using the bedrooms within the BLISS, so each year we take our songwriting camp to wherever the yacht is docked. Our first annual BLISS Invitational was held in Montenegro. This year's camp followed the yacht to Antibes, France where we invited our guests to join.”

Whilst previous events proved extremely successful producing hits through the likes of Nick Jonas, Steve Lillywhite (U2, Dave Matthews Band) and Demi Lovato (Nicky Minaj, David Guetta) the monitoring was suitable but inconsistent. After several professional recommendations and a track record of supporting similar high end song writing camps Peter and the Invitational team invited PMC to support this year’s event.

“PMC comes highly recommended by Freddie Wexler, but also has a reputation in the industry as a top quality product we want our artists to have the opportunity to use.” commented Sumter.

A mixture of twotwo.5, twotwo.6 nearfield loudspeakers were used in three of the decadent yacht’s cabins and a pair of twotwo.8s were placed in the upper deck bar area and used by Mitch Allan.

“I do writing/producing camps all over the world and sometimes in very odd spaces. PMC Speakers helped me turn the top lounge of a multi-million dollar yacht into what sounded like a million dollar studio!” explains a beaming Mitch, “I could have not been happier with my twotwo.8s and would recommend them to anyone who wants pure genuine sound for their studio, and who likes a little added muscle during playback! I'm now looking at having them installed in my home studio.”

And the positive comments did not stop there, “PMC speakers were loved by all of the producers and attendees at the BLISS Invitational, and many wanted to take them home! We attribute the sound and production quality to having a top notch product in our rooms. Definitely a high calibre tool” adds Sumter.

However it wasn’t all luxury boats and warm sea air for the group, well-earned time off and accommodation was on land in equally comfortable surroundings, Casa Mare and Villa Guide in Antibes where the closing dinner and songwriter James Newman’s birthday was celebrated during the week.

PMC’s Pro Export Manager, Chris Allen, who oversaw the supply and setup of PMC equipment was delighted at the response, “PMC are grateful and always happy for the opportunity to assist with such a great event and strengthen the relationship with these groups of extremely successful and respected producers, songwriters and artists. These people are driving the professional audio and music industry and it’s a pleasure to know PMC products are a part of it and humbling to know our loudspeakers meet their demanding, high-quality requirements. We look forward to continue supporting The Invitational Group”.
