ASCAP song writing retreat - 2015

PMC was pleased to return to Château Marouatte, home of music industry veteran Miles Copeland, for another world-class song writing event in association with ASCAP.

What is now recognised as an invite-only pilgrimage in the audio industry, Copeland's south-western France castle has previously hosted the likes of Ellie Goulding and James Bay. This year's ASCAP guest list was no less impressive and hosted 18 of the world's most successful and award-winning writers and artists - Chris DeStefano (Grammy Award winner, Carrie Underwood, Billy Currington) Ashley Gorley (19 No.1 Singles), Priscilla Renea (Mariah Carey, Little Mix, Mika) and Robopop (Lana Del Rey, James Blunt, Maroon5) amongst many others.

Hidden away and overlooking the picturesque Dordogne Valley, Château Marouatte provides an opulent yet relaxed location for the song writing retreat. With foundations going back to the 13th century Marouatte Castle retains much of its original masonry and houses countless antiques from medieval weaponry and full suits of armour to furniture. This unique venue has proved the ideal place to bring song writers with inspiration in every view and around every corner of the castle.

By request PMC were the exclusive loudspeaker supplier for the prestigious event and delivered and set up a combination of twotwo.5, twotwo.6 and twotwo.8 nearfield speakers with sub for the several writing rooms, plus a pair of MB2S three-way loudspeakers for main playback. "It is a pleasure to be associated with and requested to be involved in these incredible events with such renowned talent. We did not hesitate donating our twotwos and MB2S for Miles and the ASCAP team knowing that they would offer the highest level of audio quality and keep up with the demanding requirements and usage the attendees would need" comments Chris Allen, Pro Export Sales Manager, who specified the speakers and assisted the setup at the Castle.

Marc Emert-Hutner, ASCAP Vice President, Pop/Rock, has been an integral part of this annual retreat and for him there was no question about the speakers he wanted there - "I chose PMC speakers for this very high-level retreat because our writers demand the very best gear, and PMC delivers uncompromisingly great sounding speakers!"

With so many successful cuts from these events over the years it has been a tradition at Château Marouatte to be “knighted” by Miles Copeland if your song written at the castle reaches #1; following this tradition this year saw Priscilla Renea “knighted” for her #1 Country single ‘Something Bad’ which was written at a previous event. Congratulations Lady Priscilla!
